06 Dec HARRY VENNING
For our last exhibition of 2019, we are delighted to welcome Harry Venning to 35 North Gallery.
Harry Venning is an award winning cartoonist, comedy writer and performer based in Brighton. His cartoons have appeared in publications as diverse as Mathematics Today, Radio Times, Music Teacher and The Stage. For twenty one years he has provided The Guardian with the weekly strip cartoon Clare In The Community, about an unaware and empathy free social worker. In 2004 he developed Clare In The Community into a successful BBC Radio 4 sitcom currently on its twelfth series.
This unique exhibition features original artwork from Harry’s Guardian strip cartoon. The exhibition runs from Saturday 7th to Saturday 21st December 2019. The gallery is open Thursday to Saturday 11am – 5.30pm.
When not at a desk, Harry tours his cartoon workshop Release Your Inner Cartoonist around schools, theatres, arts centres and festivals. We will be holding a cartoon workshop in the gallery for children (and those with a yearning to release their inner cartoonist!)
Cartoon workshop details—Saturday 14th December at 12.00 midday, £ 5 per child, please contact Sharon Whiting to book your place: firstname.lastname@example.org, 07792 058039.
